  • Mateo Chaskel

    Director, Operations

    Mateo was born and raised in Bogota, Colombia, first moving to New York in 2005 to attend Columbia University, obtaining both a B.S. and an M.S. in Mechanical Engineering. While studying wind energy in college, Mateo started working with UGE as he completed his M.S., becoming one of the Company’s first employees.

    Mateo holds the title of Vice-President of Operations, working to coordinate efforts across several areas of the company, including business development, engineering, marketing, and logistics.

  • Jian Yang

    CFO

    Jian is responsible for investor relations as well as a host of other duties ranging from finance to strategy. Prior to joining UGE, Jian was in Citi’s energy investment banking group where he worked on multiple transactions ranging from capital raising to mergers and acquisitions totaling $1.6 billion. Jian also worked as a strategy and operations consultant with Deloitte across multiple sectors including real estate, finance, energy, and retail. He has a great deal of international experience having worked in and with colleagues in India, China and Europe. Jian holds a MBA and Masters in International Relations from the University of Chicago and a B.S in Business Administration from Carnegie Mellon University.

  • Nick Blitterswyk

    CEO, Co-Founder

    UGE was founded in 2008 by Nick Blitterswyk, who spent his early years of childhood on a Canadian nature reserve, and never lost his desire to preserve the resources and beauty of the Earth. Nick returned to this idea when he set out to change the way the world uses distributed renewable energy by building a company that can address the world's various energy challenges with innovative solutions. Nick has grown the company into a premier supplier of distributed renewable energy solutions, with installations for customers throughout the world. He is a strong believer in a happy, fun, and productive company culture. Nick is also a frequent guest on TV and radio on matters involving UGE, distributed generation, and cleantech as a whole. Nick is also a Fellow of the Society of Actuaries, left over from his former career as an actuary.

  • Jo Walton-Hespe

    HR and Sustainability Manager

    Jo was born and raised in Sydney, Australia. She holds a bachelors degree in Environmental Science and Arts. She also holds an honors degree in Environmental Science for a thesis on introducing sustainable technology to developing countries, for which she won a university medal. Shortly after graduating she moved to New York, where she has lived for two years. As well as New York and Sydney she has lived in France and San Diego and hopes to continue traveling whenever the opportunity presents itself.

    She currently works for UGE doing company sustainability, HR and office management. She is passionate about green living, her family and introducing australianisms to the NYC workplace.

  • Taka Koizumi

    Sales Engineer

    Taka was born in Japan and soon moved to Malaysia, where he enrolled in an American school in Kuala Lumpur. Most of his high school life took place in Tennessee where he picked up fishing and a love for barbeque. After developing a new layer of ribs, he was ready for another challenge: studying engineering at the University of Rochester. He graduated with a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering and moved to New York City looking for a job in line with his passion in renewable energy, landing him a place at UGE.
