Where Will I Install My Wind Turbine?

Siting of the wind turbine is quite possibly the most important question you will face.  Because of the nature of wind, higher wind speeds result in much higher power production.  In fact, if you managed to double your average wind speed, you would receive approximately 8-times more power!

We offer various mounting options with our wind turbines.  Most of our customers will choose one of our tower options, which include 23’ (7 meter), 43’ (13 meter), and 66’ (20 meter) options.  Some of our customers will also install their wind turbine on their roof.

Simply put, obstacles will negatively impact your wind turbines performance, so it becomes imperative to position your wind turbine in a location where it will be above all nearby obstacles.  There are areas where this would include on a rooftop, but most often this requires a tower, the height of which will depend on the location and such factors as nearby buildings and trees.  Your local UGE partner or UGE sales representative will be able to help you through all these difficult questions to help choose the best location for you.

Please note: Installing a wind turbine on a roof requires many questions that can only be answered by having a structural engineer visit the site and develop an installation plan.  While UGE turbines have been designed to have minimum cyclical loads and vibrations, which significantly aide in this design, every roof is made differently and a structural engineer has the necessary skills to ensure a safe installation.
